Our Roots

Our food truck began as a lifelong dream of the Cantera Family matriarch. Paula Cantera had a speciality for sauces that would make your mouth water, and her husband Sergio cooked tender, flavorful meat, making them the perfect ying and yang, cooking together and growing a family.

Owner, Ivan Cantera, saved with intention — to fulfill his mother's dream and give back to his family — and successfully launched "Mijos Taqueria" in 2017.

One of the first few food trucks to emerge in downtown Oklahoma City, Ivan proudly ran the business while his parents cooked their family recipes.

Today, Ivan continues his family legacy, sharing a love of food with the community one taco or nacho at a time.

Today's Vision

Still based in Oklahoma City and ran by the Cantera family, our food truck has evolved from "Mijos Taqueria" to

"La Chicana Cocina."

With all of the same great food, Ivan has partnered with Javier Hernandez, a long-time family friend, to evolve their brand in a nod to all the women in their lives, including Ivan's mother, Paula, who passed in 2022.

"When it comes to Hispanic and Latin dishes, they bring people together. There is a reason it's a lot of people's favorite food! With our business, we hope to unify our neighbors as they find each dish full of Mexican love."
